Some of you might have noticed that the topics of our blog posts have been gradually changing over the last few years. From a pure revenue management focus we have strayed into areas of operations and finance. And even a few on concept and design. You might think we have fallen of course. But all to the contrary, we are exactly on the path we set-out when we launched Xotels back in 2006 …
We started off with revenue management seminars. We gave about 60+ courses a year, travelling through entire Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. And we slowly developed into a consulting company specialized in hotel revenue management. Initially working on a project basis, we morphed into long term engagements through revenue management outsourcing.
We knew with revenue management at the core of our company we could take this journey in any direction we wanted. Our vision from the start has always been to make something more out of Xotels …
And so over the years we have developed and expanded. Let me share some of the highlights out of the many project we are working on with you.
We ventured into technology and launched our own revenue management system. At the same time we have taken on full management of various properties. It has always been on our radar as a direction to develop the company into. Our clients naturally were asking for an extension of our services.
And we have gone beyond even, into the area of concept development and interior design. Check-out the luxury bed & breakfast we opened in Barcelona this year. We developed the concept and were highly involved in the interior design. And the work has paid off, guests are scoring us 9.2 on Booking, with special note for our wonderful crew, scoring 9.7 for the staff.
I could go on and on with the incredible projects we have been working on. It has been such an exciting year again …
But instead let’s have a look at how our portfolio of independent hotels performed in 2018.
Summarizing 2018:
- We expanded our portfolio to 78 properties in operation (and some more under development)
- Total Turnover went up by 17.6% to €225mln
- Room Revenue increased by 17.1% to €155mln
And what does 2019 have in store for Xotels?
We are currently working on the development of a new youth hostel in Turin Italy, looking at architecture and design. We will kick-off the new year with a trip to Batumi, Georgia, working on the pre-opening of an amazing 5 star hotel. And there are some more very intriguing projects ahead of us …
Last but not least, another new initiative, we are also working on launching our own virtual hotel brand and representation company: Veturi Hotels.
As you can see, we have another exciting year ahead of us at Xotels. The entire team is energized and ready to take the challenges full on …
Look forward to another exciting year …
